How To Find Passion And Direction in Life?: Curiosity and a passion to learn new things is human nature, but if you don’t know your sole purpose and direction in life you are not heading anywhere. you can’t just keep spending your efforts and energies in whatever comes your way and then leave it to grab some other opportunity, that is not life. This is why it is important to invest your time and energy wisely to earn something out of it.

Questioning your journey and exploring your passions is the very first step towards life.

Unfortunately, leading a life without a purpose and constantly finding your direction, is an existential dilemma for almost all of us.

What are my Passions? Where am I heading in life?

the depression and stress induced by the disappointment of not knowing your actual Goals makes you question, is your life even worth living?

Most people just stay distracted all their lives and they work for others and become satisfied with what-so-ever they do. They don’t really live as they die with their passions, desires, and purposes, buried deep within their hearts.

How to Find Passion and Direction in Life:

Having a purpose in your life makes it worth living. Ask yourself; what are you passionate about?

If you think you are not content with your life, question yourself again and again. Leading a purposeless life, without a proper direction is simply breathing because you have been gifted another day.

But finding direction in life and leading it with a purpose, passion, and aim is all about getting the most out of the day that you have been gifted with.

You see passion is the first and a very important step in your life’s way to success,  and so I will try to guide you through these steps.

below is a step by step guide to help you know the purpose of your life.

Explore Yourself:

 

In order to find the passion of your life, you first have to know and find yourself. Think of the things that make you excited. 

Find “Who you really are?”

Find out,  What makes you smile?

What makes you happy?

Look deep down into your heart and find what truly makes you content and feel amazing. We all are awesome in one way or another. Sadly, many of us just don’t know it yet and we are all hard-wired to be what society wants us to be because we are scared and vulnerable.

You see there are two versions of you. One is made by our society and another one is that awesome person inside you.

Be that awesome guy. Be it!

Ask yourself what is your nature?

What are you naturally good at?

Are you good at talking or are you creative or maybe you are sensitive and some of you might be completely insensitive?

Just keep on digging in yourself and always focus on the root of what you feel and what you want to do. Think about what gives your life a sense because that is What you want to do. Don’t worry about “how you will do it”, it will all come to you naturally.

If you are still confused then hear this out because this is the most important of all.

Think about, how you can affect other peoples’ lives?

How will you serve the world?

What do they need that your talents can provide?

What services can you give to others on which you are naturally good at, and which also makes you happy? It’s all you have to figure out.

These dreams and these ideas, come to you for a reason. That guy inside of you, that tells you every day that you are doing it wrong, who is trying to make you realize that the paths on which were are on were all wrong.

Listen to that guy!

Be Financially Independent:

Now that you know your energies and Passion, its time to earn from them. learning to make money from what you like to do is an art, and the truth is only when you are financially independent you can pursue a life of passion and ambition.

Now when it comes to making money, there will be hundreds, if not thousands of websites telling you the “easiest way”.

Let me tell you a thing. There is no easy way to earn money. There are just ways. And if you choose to do what you like to do, it becomes easier. It’s not a “chore” or a “job” anymore.

The more you love what you do, the less motivation you require. So just think and find what you’d love to do and go after it. Stop wasting your time.

 

 

understand, that this road is never easy, it requires more than just time. it requires willpower,energy and effort. Don’t be like those people who gave up just because they stumbled a bit or failed. But despite knowing all of this, we tend to let loose of our passions.

make sure that you are earning at least something for yourself. because relying on your parents money is never an option if you want to really succeed.

if you can’t start earning from your passion straight away, it’s perfectly fine. Perhaps you aren’t skilled enough yet.

so, just fetch yourself a job, invest your own salary in polishing your skill set, now when you feel you can head on with your passions, that is one goal accomplished already.

as, now that you have earned your passion you know how to value it as well.

You have to put in the effort, in finding the direction of your life and be passionate about learning anything that takes you a step ahead, towards the purpose of your life.

Realize that you have the fire within you, to achieve whatever you want.

Understand that It Will Take Time:

Life doesn’t throw a bone at you.

You only get what you deserve, you get what you are.

Understand that it takes time.

I know most of you are still confused right now and that’s because you are eager  enough to find your passion.

Understand that it will take some time.

I have seen people scaring off others by saying

“It took me 10 years to find my passion”

Or

“I have spent my whole life trying to figure out my direction.”

Well, that’s all BS, sure it takes time but not that much. Just don’t be impatient, it will come to you naturally.

Who knows you better than you? Well nobody, only you! So just keep on digging in your brain and you will soon find all the answers you are looking for.

I found out about my passion in a very different manner, by “Lucid Dreaming“. Of those of you who haven’t heard of it, it’s a dream in which you are aware that you are dreaming, simple is that.

But I took it to the next level. I got obsessed with finding my passion and searched deep within my mind and found out what I really love to do.

You will find it if you are a natural lucid dreamer but if you are not, even then you can try to achieve lucid dreaming.

I kept on practicing until I became the master of my dreams and then I went deep into my subconscious and saw, what I really love.

Do the same if you are a lucid dreamer maybe you can find your passion this way.

The point of telling you all this is that no matter what you do it’s going to take some time for you to research yourself until you find what makes you sparkle.

Brainstorm on yourself – And write down your goals

Grab a paper and a pen and write down whatever you want to do. Write down things that make you happy.

Think about what you would really like to do in life if money wasn’t a problem; it can be anything. What are you passionate about?

Do you want to become a great guitar player, bodybuilder, or race car driver?

It can be anything that you want to do. Just focus on all the things which make you, YOU.

If you came up with a few options then that’s great, otherwise, hang in there.

All you need is the focus.

It takes time to build that list. While building that list start looking at your life in a different way, think about what gives your life a sense of joy.

What is it that you would do 24/7 and never get tired of? Find those reasons.

You have greatness, talents, and skills within you that you haven’t even begun to imagine. You just have to find them.

Now the things you wrote down start doing them one by one. If you have a job, do them in your free time. If you don’t have a job do them full time and keep on searching for jobs. Don’t lose hope.

So suck up to it and just do it, one day you will quit that lousy job of yours like I did and will start doing what you love instead.

If you get bored doing that first thing on your list or feel like it’s not for you, leave it and see what’s next on your list and then start doing that instead.

If that’s also not good enough for you do the next one on your list and if there is nothing left on your list then come up with something but keep on going and you will find your passion.

Know your Fears: Overcome them

now that you know your direction and are willing to give in all you’ve got, there comes this cloud of fears out of nowhere.

don’t close your eyes. Don’t Ignore it.

if you want to reach your goals its important to grab this fear monster right from it’s collar and have an eye to eye contact with it.

because, this is how you defeat it, so take the bull by the horns and nothing on earth will dare to come in between you and your goals.

mostly people fear exposure, failure, judgements, etc.

so, overcoming these is very very important.

understand that you will definitely fail if you keep trying to please everyone.

So, first things first! stop worrying about what they will say. ALL these “They” are nobody’s so don’t care about them.

Success never comes to those who don’t have the guts to keep on trying. So never give up.

and as for fear of exposure, all you need to do is Cultivate Confidence.

Nurture Confidence:

Believe in yourself, understand that if you don’t believe in your goals none other will.

so have confidence in what ever you do.

failure can be a chance, but if you are not confident in yourself then failure is a guarantee.

so, be brutally honest with yourself. you need to know the authentic You with all your weaknesses and strengths.

keep in mind that none is perfect so no matter whatever weaknesses you have you can work on them, build them as your strengths, own them becaus they make your individuality. they set you apart from the rest of the crowd. don’t be shameful for them and automatically you will cultivate confidence.

now here are some answers to questions I know you must be wondering.

Is passion over-rated?

I am a strong believer in passion.

I have written so much on passion and how everyone should follow their passions to reach wherever they want to in life.

This is the truth.

You don’t need to doubt the fact that passion is going to earn you like no other job will. It will bring in waves of satisfaction and relief.

They do say it right that doing what you love, never tires you from your job or daily routine.

But here is a question; is passion overrated?

Have we placed it on a level so high that we cannot see anything beyond it? Just let a fact click your mind; what if your passion is not promising enough to earn you a good living, a luxurious lifestyle, or a healthy and bright future? Do you still leap for it?

This is where Ben Horowitz’s speech in 2015, at Columbia University, stunned us because it was entitled:

“Don’t follow your passion”

I did not like the speech in all also. He is trying to tell people to be machined to earn money.

But in the end, what if your passion is not fulfilling your basic necessities like food and clothes?

Are you getting the point here?

So here are some reasons that show that we have an overrated passion and yes, sometimes it’s okay to not follow them and keep them for your pass time duties. For instance, your passion is music but your voice isn’t that good; do you have a promising future like Enrique Iglesias?

Why Sometimes passion gets hard to rank?

If someone asks you hey, are you passionate about paintings or becoming an artist in all? Won’t you be that little bit confused? You will go like artists love to paint. But hey, artists do a lot of other things that just painters don’t.

Again, if someone asks you, do you love math or you wish to become an engineer? Sometimes you have more than just one passion. You can be passionate about writing and sketching. What do you choose? So prioritizing your passions is hard.

It again comes to the most suitable choice or something that seems to be promising a great future. You can’t always pick one of your passions to opt for it for a lifetime. It can lead to greater confusion.

You are not always that great at your passion:

So as I said above, your passion is not always your strength. You might feel this strong connection with music but what if you are actually a bathroom singer?

Do you think you will love your job?  You probably won’t even get a job. I know facing reality can be so hard sometimes.

But if you understand that you aren’t good at what you feel passionate about you will be able to find something you are good at or you can keep going with it and you can earn from it as well. Sometimes you are just passionate about something as a pastime hobby.

For instance, you might love watching and attending DIY’s but making tutorials for it or taking it as your career is a totally opposite thing. So does the picture get clearer here?

Can Passion Change?

Okay, this might sound a bit weird but I have experienced it, or let’s say I have seen it happening around me sometimes. A lot of people start to lose interest in what they term as passion. They get bizarre of it. So where does that passion go then?

It somehow relates to my previous point as well. You can love doing DIY’s but at the same time, you cannot take it as a full-time duty. Why? Because attending DIYs might change anytime. You can get bored with it.

Passions are sometimes linked to your hobbies and thus, they have space for changing. You really don’t have the hold over that, do you? Passion is definitely getting overrated. I have seen people reach the heights of success with their passion but at the same time, I have seen people getting bizarre of it. Passion comes from within you but at the same time, while we live in such a competitive world, we don’t want to die of hunger, do we?

Passion doesn’t drive luck and money to you always. The scenarios are different and one day, you might just wonder why you did just pop into this field? And then you start hating yourself for getting into your passion in the first place. So the verdict here is that passion has its own specific place. You must know how to judge it before it’s too late for you to realize that you wasted your entire life and didn’t get anything in return.

It’s not easy but it’s worth it, you have to spend some time thinking about it because it’s the first and the most important step for your successful life.

When I didn’t know what my passion was, I was still somewhat satisfied with my engineering job, it paid me well but someone deep inside kept on shouting you are not an engineer, you are somebody else.

I started doing the things I love and it took me some time but I finally found it, and as it turns out I love to help people.
