Top 6 Oral Care Products Tips For Keeping Your Mouth Healthy

Top 6 Oral Care Products Tips For Keeping Your Mouth Healthy: Oral hygiene is essential and requires constant caring. If you don’t pay attention to your teeth, you might lose them before age. Maintaining oral care and hygiene needs to be done every day, and it’s a process that needs to be followed. Every age group people need to take good care of their teeth. There are many benefits of maintaining oral hygiene, like eating your favorite foods and sweets without any second thought and enjoying a healthy lifestyle.

Maintaining oral health isn’t always about bad breath; it includes several other things too. It helps you prevent acid and bacteria build up inside your mouth and various other mouth diseases that can occur due to inadequate oral care. No one likes a mouth that is filled with tooth decay, cavities, and bad breath. This will also make a negative image in front of your friends and family. But this all can be avoided by simply taking good care of your mouth and using the right tool.

There are plenty of tools and products available in the market that can help you take good care of your mouth. Selecting a suitable oral care product can be tricky and challenging to make because of several types of brands and products available in the market.

Their prices also vary as per their quality.

There are toothpaste, toothbrushes, flosses, mouthwash, whitening treatments, automatic brushes, etc, which can be used for oral care and have been proven very effective. Only brushing your teeth daily won’t provide you with a healthy mouth.

You have to take help from these oral hygiene products.

To be more specific about what is good and what is not, we took help from famous dentist Dr. Joe Xanthopoulos, and he told us about six products which can be used for a healthy mouth.

Let’s talk about them in detail.

Choosing the right toothbrush

Choosing the right toothbrush

While going for a toothbrush, we don’t pay much attention to the quality of the brush; instead, we choose colors and designs, but the essential thing which is to consider while buying a toothbrush is whether it covers the entire area of your mouth or not.

Zigzag brushes are excellent if you want full coverage. There are soft, challenging, and medium bristles available, but you should always go for soft bristles because stiff and medium bristles make your gum weak and unsuitable for your teeth. Choosing the right toothbrush also depends upon your brushing habit, how you brush your teeth. Some people brush in harsh motion and hurry; due to this habit, they can hurt their gum, and it causes damage to their teeth.

Therefore there is an electric toothbrush available for people who brush too hard. An electric toothbrush gives a soft and gentle motion and is very good for our teeth, as recommended by the dentist. Your toothbrush should always be according to the size of your mouth; a child can’t brush from an adult’s toothbrush and vice versa. Always choose the size which fits your mouth.

Good Quality Toothpaste

Good Quality Toothpaste

Choosing the right toothpaste is also necessary, just like choosing the right toothbrush. Deciding what is suitable for your teeth and which product will give you the best results is very difficult. Many kinds of toothpaste contain ingredients that are healthy for our teeth and provide all the natural substances to our gums. It contains fluoride, which helps strengthen our teeth’ enamel, prevents tooth decay, and many more.

Several types of toothpaste are available in the market, like ayurvedic, teeth whitening, toothpaste with salt, sensitive teeth, and many more. You can choose as per your preference. Ayurvedic toothpaste contains all the natural substances which are very good for our teeth and provides all the nutrition it requires.

Whitening toothpaste used for a long time may weaken your teeth and damage your gums; it is not recommended daily. People with sensitive teeth can choose sensitive expert teeth for better results. Salt contains a substance that is considered very healthy for our teeth; therefore, many kinds of toothpaste contain salt. You can consult your doctor if you face any problem in deciding on toothpaste.

Dental floss

Dental floss

While eating, some food crumbs or particles get stuck between our teeth that a toothbrush can’t remove; that’s why flossing is imperative as it reaches that inner area of your teeth and removes all the stuck food particles. It also helps in preventing bad breath problems. Every dentist recommends flossing because it’s one of the essential parts of maintaining oral health and hygiene.

You should use floss twice a day, says our dentist. Flossing prevents plaques and tooth decay. Floss comes in a variety of flavors so that you don’t feel bored and enjoy your flossing. They are waxed and without wax. Waxed floss is suitable for people having tight-spacing teeth to glide effortlessly between the teeth, and wax is a standard type of floss used by everyone.

If you have any particular brand for flossing, then stick to it because it’s challenging to build a flossing habit. You should always floss before brushing, but don’t do it harshly as you will end up hurting your gums, and it will start bleeding. Push the floss to the gum line with an up and down motion for better cleaning and removing plaque.

Tongue Cleaner

Tongue Cleaner

A tongue Cleaner is used after brushing. It is a crucial step for maintaining oral hygiene as bacteria make a layer of plaque above the tongue’s surface, which creates a foul smell and lousy breathing. It also results in more bacteria inside the mouth. A toothbrush can also be used as a tongue cleaner, but it won’t give you accurate results. You should always clean your tongue twice a day to maintain oral hygiene.

Our tongue covers the primary area where bacteria gets stored, and sometimes due to busy life, we often forget to clean it hence giving more space and time to bacteria to grow. Therefore one should never forget to clean his tongue after brushing. Following are the benefits of tongue cleaning-

  • It gives a fresh feeling and avoids foul smell.
  • It removes bacteria from the mouth and prevents it from further growing.
  • It helps you in maintaining proper oral hygiene and makes you feel fresh from the inside.

All you have to do is take a cleaner or scraper of your favorite brand and scrape the surface of your tongue to remove the dirty layer. Always use a still stainless scraper for better results.

Mouth wash

Mouthwash is the last step and not necessary, but most people find it one of the best ways to keep our mouth healthy. There are so many brands of mouthwash available in the market which come in different flavors and varieties.

All of them help fight different mouth problems like plaque, tooth decay, cavities, etc. Fluoride mouthwash helps in preventing cavities. Some mouthwash also helps you in preventing bad breath.

Mouthwash can be natural, too, that includes natural and ayurvedic ingredients that help keep the mouth healthy and fresh.

Oral Irrigators

It’s also known as ‘Waterpik’ dental water jet’ or ‘dental’ These are the tools used to remove dirt and food particles from the mouth by shooting a stream of water. This helps in removing food items that we can’t remove through other tools. People with braces find it difficult to clean their teeth through brush and floss; therefore, they use oral irrigators to clean their mouth.

Nowadays, oral irrigators are available in medical shops and departmental stores, and it’s very convenient to use, but you have to be very careful related to water pressure as high pressure may damage your gums and teeth. You might also need to take advice from your dentist before using this tool. Though this tool is very good for removing all the dirt and cleaning your mouth, you should not skip your daily brushing and flossing routine due to this tool. It is an add-on method and can be used after brushing.

Benefits of using oral irrigators

  • Removes extra dirt, which you can’t remove through the brush.
  • Helps in improving breath.
  • Removes plaque and prevents growth.
  • Prevents the growth of gingivitis.

All this technique is fundamental to maintain a healthy mouth and maintain oral hygiene. These steps should not be skipped and followed daily to avoid any tooth decay, cavities, or mouth problems. But one thing which also needs to be followed routinely is visiting your dentist and taking advice which is good for your teeth.

Sometimes even all these tools and methods cannot prevent tooth problems; proper scanning is essential and must be done regularly. Ask for any special treatment required to be done by your dentist or what products and tools you should use on a daily basis.
