Affiliate Marketing is one of the foremost ways of making money online and over the years guys like Pat Flynn, Yaro Starav, and Joseph Efoghor have been able to carve out ways to get the most of the affiliate marketing, thereby making a huge amount of money in the process.
The truth is there are many rules to take note of when launching your nets into the horrendous see of affiliate marketing and I have decided to share just five (5) of these rules here with you.
You will achieve great results if you can take the time to religious think and act upon these rules of mine.
Let’s get into it…
Here are five ways to get the most of the affiliate marketing in this New Year:
1. Choose your niche:
A friend once said, “Niches are riches”.
Was he right?
Oh yes, he’s darn right!
You begin to draw close and closer to success the moment when you are in the habit of niching down and not get all trapped in the cocoon of trying to be everything to everyone.
Do you want to know the truth? I have never seen anyone who is good and can teach everything in the world.
The reason why folks like Pat Flynn succeed in the business of blogging and affiliate marketing is because they understand the whole idea of knowing your niche and that surely helped them be more effective in spreading their message, which ultimately helped them to make money with the phenomenon.
Knowing your niche helps you to choose what affiliate program to join and promote. I remember joining several affiliate programs in 2013 and got no success, not even a tiny success. Why? Well, because I didn’t have a niche (I ran a multi-niche blog at the time where I share just about anything I find interesting) and it didn’t help my dreams of becoming a pro blogger, one who rakes in dollars gotten from blogging.
In 2017, you have to learn to sit, think deep and choose a specific niche that is not very competitive but is well-searched and you can be sure to get huge success as an affiliate marketer.
2. Create valuable Content:
Success in affiliate marketing is not in generating banners and spreading it all over your blog neither is it in generating links to be spammed across all of the Facebook groups.
No, that’s not what affiliate marketing is about.
In fact, you will be wasting a lot of time in doing the wrong things.
Success in affiliate marketing is all about creating valuable content.
A friend shared of how his spiked up the moment he introduced writing into his promotional strategies. And I did notice that myself in 2014 when I pursued and retraced my steps back into the world of affiliate marketing.
Remember that mantra, “Content is King?”
Well, that’s right.
With the right contents, you can be sure to engage with your audience as to convince them to buy the same tools you are using to get success from blogging. In fact, it is the only way people will trust you because they can already see those tools in action on your blog.
Get my drifts?
3. The 20/80% Rule is Very Important:
Yes, the 20/80 percent rule is pretty important and valid in the promotion of the affiliate programs you are on.
You have to be in the habit of creating content (we’ve have said that above), showing banners in your blog’s sidebar, spreading the words about the program you ‘re promoting on all the social networking sites you are on.
What I am saying, in essence, is that you should be sharing and promoting your affiliate programs more than you are doing any other things, like creating content.
Yes, creating content is important but promoting it is more important. And you have to that consistently and efficiently!
4. Don’t Rely on a Single Source of Traffic:
Traffic is important to any form of monetization strategy you’d ever deploy on your blog, let alone affiliate marketing.
And you have to be willing to work your socks off in generating huge traffic to your blog by religiously doing all of the traffic strategies that you know of.
Sharing on bookmarking sites, promoting on your social media accounts, guest blogging on top blogs, actively commenting on other blogs, especially the ones in your niche, and you can also run FB Ads if it falls under your budget.
The idea is not in relying on just one source of traffic. Be sure to be active and be everywhere. This is how you’d truly achieve success in affiliate marketing.
What do I mean by this?
Well, your effort to creating valuable content is as good as useless if the content is not being seen by your target audience.
So learn to drive traffic from all and good sources!
Let this post guide you to learning the best ways you can use social media to drive sales and grow your business overnight.
5. Tools are a great lifesaver:
As an affiliate marketer, you will need some tools to aid your success and there are a lot of them in the online market space, but I will share a few of them here with you. Just be sure to use the ones you feel you really need.
I will share three (3) WordPress affiliate plugins that I use and that are created to make your life much easier.
- ThirstyAffiliates – This one is perhaps the best affiliate link management tool for WordPress users. It allows you to easily manage your affiliate links inside your WordPress blog. You can quickly insert links into posts, cloak links, auto-insert links, and even see how each link is performing on your site.
- SEMRush – Affiliate marketing is a highly competitive industry even if you decide to work in a very specific niche. SEMRush allows you to look how your competitors are doing, what keywords they are using, and how well those keywords are performing for them.
- WP RSS Aggregator – “WP RSS Aggregator is an ideal plugin to fetch content from affiliate networks into your WordPress site. With its powerful add-ons, you can even set up auto blogs with your affiliate networks. This plugin will automatically fetch products as posts into your WordPress blog.
