So what’s the life without social media better or bitter? Disconnecting from Social Media is very better indeed and too much healthy. Life is somehow going in the same cycle, isn’t it? We are born; we live for some time and then we die. I don’t see how technology changes that much.

But yes, it has changed a lot more than just this cycle. It has changed the way we live.

Where are those amazing face to face interactions gone?

Well, thanks to the smartphones and social media networks; who has time for them now?

We prefer to ignore the person sitting next to us, for someone who is far away. I totally agree that social networking allows you to bridge the gap between friends and family who are not in the same town with you.

But have you, for a minute, ever thought about the person sitting next to you?

When was the last time you deactivated that “totally not needed” Facebook account of yours?

When did you put your mobile out of your hands reach, turning all the notifications off?It might even seem hard to imagine, right?

Like you are going to turn into a fish without water? NO! Nothing like that will ever happen because disconnecting from social networks (once in a while) can be very healthy. How?

Let’s dig in for that.

1. Eating Food Gets Easier:

This might sound a bit weird but once you have yourself disconnected from Snap Chat and Instagram, you can actually gulp down your food without having to religiously take a photo of it.

I did that too in the beginning until it got too boring and it became random for me. But look, I confessed I did it right?

Once you have turned them off, you are able to eat food rather than showing it off more on your social media.

2. Going Places:

Anyways so whenever you go to any new place selfie is a must. And a lot of people will say that we need to make memories is what digital cameras were invented for! Enjoy the surroundings of the new places and capture moments from your handy cameras rather than your smartphones.

Because you just don’t take a selfie and get over with it. You start sharing it around and you miss some amazing things around you. you take a picture and then you have to tweet “#I’m enjoying! And you are not and I am so much cooler and On your face!!” and then post that picture on Facebook and Instagram and Whats-app.

Let it go and enjoy the view, enjoy the moment. Don’t let your smartphone take those moments away from you. Your mind is the best memory storing place.

3. Enjoy the Company:

When you get disconnected from the social media. You stop looking for that friend of yours who is sitting miles away from you, to solve your troubles.

You start searching in your surroundings for anything that can make you less sad and stressed.

You start enjoying the company of the people you are actually present and are not virtual. I mean, I started sitting with my family more when I disconnected from my social media networks.

4. Addiction:

Facebook videos are like an addiction, aren’t they? Once you start looking at one video, you end up wasting almost an hour or more over there.

Same is with Twitter and can I just say that Pinterest is one heck of an addiction as well?

So, turning off from social media sometimes can make you free of that addiction. It does seem too hard in the beginning but if you look at the brighter side, you can easily go on without it for at least a month.

Thus, it is not just good but it is important to free yourself from this addiction once in a while.

Look let me put this in another way. These social media sites are making money off us.

Just think about all the successful people like Mark Zuckerberg (owner of Facebook and Whatsapp), Bill Gates (needs no intro) and Jack Dorsey (Owner of Twiter).

Do you think these people wasted their hours on scrolling down the pages? Of course not!

The point here is that these sites are addictive for a reason. It’s all about money which they are making of us because we are addicted to these sites.

Now I am not saying to totally cut off from them, after all, they are pretty cool for communication but as they say “excess of everything is bad” so tune it down a notch is all I’m trying to say!

5. Productivity:

Agree with it or not, this won’t change the truth, right?

That smartphone of yours with all the social network notifications pinging on it, don’t let you do anything!

How many likes did your pic get? How many people have commented on it? And OH; she did not like my pic, is she online?

All that is too unimportant but it takes away one of the essential things of your line; PRODUCTIVITY! Try disconnecting yourself from these networks and see how you are able to do more productive work within a day.

Conclusion:

In the beginning, it definitely will be hard.

You will feel like signing in and just peeking inside. But trust me, a day or two of control will get you through it. Look at it as bringing peace into your life and to your mind.

Get productive with your studies or work and see how much you will be able to cover.

All that work you did along the week might just get done with a day or two.
